Attached is a letter recently received by the residents association. The SSAFA are the Soldiers, Sailors and Families Association who provide support to those who serve in our armed forces and those who used to serve.
I have just received a telephone call from Inspector Heather Keating regarding an incident which happened today. The purpose of this e-mail is to clarify the facts and also the police are requesting anyone with information to come forward. Please circulate this message as widely as possible to a) assist the police and b) to stop rumours. There will be a heavy police presence in the village for the next few days until the facts are collated.
The Parish Council has approved the setting up of a No Cold Calling Zone in Fairlight and it will be launched at the Christmas Fair. This will help prevent unwanted doorstep salespersons taking advantage of elderly and confused residents.
The proposal comes from a couple of requests for allotments to be provided in the village. There isn't any land, and the demand may not be great enough to make it a priority. However one really good suggestion was that there could be a garden share scheme, whereby someone with a big garden they are struggling with, allows someone else from the village with a small garden, to grow crops on a section of the garden, in exchange for some of the produce.
If anyone would be interested in such a scheme could they contact the Parish Clerk on 01424 848881 or email to

and let me know whether they want to find a garden to share or have a garden to share. We will then try to put people together.
