Rockmead Road berm under construction – 2007

WANT TO WALK? DON’T WANT TO WALK ALONE? USE THE NEW FAIRLIGHT WALKERS FORUM!

THIS IS ALL NEW TO ME SO I’M GOING TO GET THINGS WRONG AREN’T I?

Please, please tell me if you think I am wrong, or could do it better, and if you would like to help then that would

be brilliant.

I am Ron Simpson, Gensing, 17 Waites Lane. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

INTENTION

Having spoken to a few people in the village I have found that walking is a popular activity. We

have some of the finest walking in the South of England right on our doorstep. Some people don’t

know that it exists.

Some people are not comfortable walking alone and I fully understand that.

I am trying to provide two things:

  1. A few web pages on the Fairlight Community Website giving information about local walking. I haven’t started this yet.
  2. A Forum for Fairlight Walkers to contact one another so that they have someone to walk with. Thanks to our webmaster, I think that is now up and running. Go to the Fairlight Community Website, click on Forum, where it says Main Forum, click on the down-arrow at the right hand side and click on Fairlight Walkers.

A FEW BITS OF SENSIBLE ADVICE FOR THE FORUM

  1. Give an indication of the length of walk you are thinking of.
  2. Say if you are bringing a dog.
  3. Give your availability.
  4. Say if you have any restrictions like no steep hills, no stiles, etc.
  5. Don’t give your full name, address and telephone on the forum – save that until you meet up.
  6. For the first time of meeting, if you don’t know who you are meeting, always meet in a public place and bring a partner or friend.

Parish Council Transparency Code

Data Transparency

The Local Government Transparency Code 2015 (the Code) came into effect on 1 April 2015. The Code is issued by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. It replaces any previous codes issued in relation to authorities in England under those powers.

The Code does not replace or supersede the existing legal framework for access to and re-use of public sector information provided by the :

• Freedom of Information Act 2000 (as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012)

• Environmental Information Regulations 2004

• Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005

• Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community Regulations 2009 and

• Sections 25 and 26 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 which provides rights for persons to inspect a local authority's accounting records and supporting documentation, and to make copies of them.

The Code requires local authorities in England to publish the following information quarterly:

• Expenditure over £500
• Government Procurement Card transactions
• Procurement Information

Additionally, local authorities are required to publish the following information annually:

• local authority land
• social housing assets
• grants to voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations
• organisational chart
• trade union facility time
• parking account
• parking spaces
• senior salaries
• constitution
• pay multiple
• fraud

Fairlight Parish Council complies with, or exceeds the requirements of the code by publishing the information on this website. Hard copies are available on request from the Parish Council.

NB please note some of the annual information is currently not applicable such as parking account but may apply in the future.
