Hi, The Saplings of a variety of Trees suitable for our Wood that were kindly supplied free to the Parish Council from the Woodland Trust that I applied for way back earlier in the year arrived the other day.
Today, Friday 17/11/17, The Ladies have done a grand job, and planted around half of the 105 supplied, the rest will go in next week.
Can I please ask for anyone walking the Wood to take care where they walk, so as not to disturb them. They are highly visible with supporting cane, and protective covers.

On another note, there is an abundance of cut logs piled up in the area we are currently clearing........about 30yds in from the kids playground, turn right, and they are a few yards up on the can't miss them!
They are 90+% Holly and have been cut over the last few months so probably not seasoned enough for burning this year, but should be OK for next winter 2018?............Please feel free to take what you want, there are also some very small piles of obvious recently cut logs that can be taken, in a couple of other places.
Please do not take any from the several piles in and around where we have been clearing, easily recognisable, as they are mainly rotting logs. We have piled them up to aid small wild and insect life that are vital for a Woodlands health.
Here's hoping the saplings do well, and next year sees an increase on this year, with more wild flowers and Bluebells that made an appearance due to sunlight getting deeper into the Wood.
Cllr Dave Thatcher
